End-of-Summer Updates

Posted On September 17th, 2009 in General Info, Prayer Requests by kathleen

The two 5-Day Clubs in Lakeview had 24 children enrolled, who were all excited about future opportunities to learn.  One day in particular, the children were asking question after question about Jesus, the punishment for sin, and much more.  The next day, one of the girls asked me [Cora], “How do you remember all this stuff [the Bible lessons]?”  I [Cora] had to smile as I encouraged her to start learning now!

As a result of our 5-Day Club in Lakeview last week, we have three helpers for a Good News Club, but no teacher yet.  I [Cora] am considering making the trip for the first six weeks of club, in hopes of training one of the helpers or a new volunteer to take over as the next teacher.

Klamath County Fair went well, with 184 children attending, and about forty children indicating decisions to receive Christ.

Bonanza Hobby Fair had 75-100 children come through, eager to hear the Gospel, thanks to the free water balloon yo-yos provided by several generous benefactors.  As a result, at least one mom reported receiving Christ there.  Praise God for Margie Dark, who recruited all the volunteers to tell the children the ‘Wordless Book’ as they made their colored bracelets.

We had our first Teacher’s Meeting on Monday, August 24th, with about ten people in attendance (not bad for still being in summer!), including two new teachers:  Kathy Hampson, and Mona Boggs!  I [Cora] encouraged them all with some specific ways to grow in their clubs this year, in evangelizing, descipling, and establishing the boys and girls in a local church.

Prayer requests:  finances are definitely tight, but God has been providing.  Please pray that He will continue to provide.

For new teachers and helpers, and for churches to help with the cost of materials for the clubs, and with providing snacks for the children.

For Kathleen, who is helping in the office a couple of hours a week, that she’ll be able to be a real help to the ministry (and learn her way around the office!).

For the children who will be attending the Good News Clubs, that they will be saved, discipled, and settled in membership at a Bible-believing church.  And for the teachers and helpers, that they will be prepared for each lesson both physically and spiritually, so that God will be glorified.
